Summary: It's about a couple who are deeply in love played by Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan. Their characters, Meera and Jai struggle with the geographical distance that divides them and the story is also shown a parallel from an earlier time period as told by an older man who is reminded of his own situation with the current one.
Review: I like the Bollywood film styles of mixing languages and the music behind them, but this movie really wasn't that deep. I love the small little details such as an old custom/ritual of "poking" an individual on the shoulders being reciprocated and then the poking on the cheeks(Om Shonti Om) and the drinks of both males of the timelines being black coffee and black tea.

Power Rating (Out of 5) and Comments: 2 I liked the initial story, but it just couldn't captivate my attention for the entire 2 hours.
I couldn't find a subtitled version, but the cinematography should give you a good sense.

The Romantics
Summary: Katie Holmes is the bridesmaid of her best friend played by Anna Paquin who just happens to not be over her past lover, and groom-to-be. The setting is a night before the wedding and how the friends deal with their relationships with the implication of them being so close that they often recycle dates and form "incestuous relationships."
Review: The cast was a compiliation of many mainstream names with Katie Holmes, Anna Paquin, Josh Duhamel, Dianna Agron, Adam Brody, and Malin Ackerman. They were all terrific in their supporting roles, although Dianna Agron's role was miniscule to the storyline as the younger sister of the bride. Katie Holmes was excellent in her role as the conflicted bridesmaid, but I can't say that I think her sex appeal doesn't add to any role. The music was well selected and the film was shot very well with the different lights that made the mood. The storyline was a bit cliche, but it was an enjoyable watch for the moments of awkwardness and O that shouldn't have happened.
Further Question/Philosophy/Theme: Why do girls love to get fucked by their best friend's man and rationalize? Is the man really that special or is the object of a want by another the source of the want. Is there such a thing as everlasting passionate love that can rival the thoughtful and sweet nature of caring?

The People I've Slept With
Summary: Angela Yang, played by Karina Anna Cheung who was the lead female in the movie, Better Luck Tomorrow, is a woman with loose morals or the "morals of a man." She is very promiscuous and gets knocked up. She struggles to deal with her pregnancy/paternity issue after she meets the perfect guy. She tries her best to deal with her family and her gay best friend offers the best moral support he can.
Review: This film had some unrealistic plot holes at times, but it was light and had plenty of humorous moments. It was a fun watch despite some moments that were cliche, but it did offer some twists in the plot to keep the viewer amused. It was a script with plenty of funny dialogue.
Further Question/Philosophy/Theme: The theme of the movie is how sluts are just people too who really like sex. It doesn't really explore any of the attitudes towards sex too deeply, but just made jokes about it which was nice.

Inception
Summary: A man is made an offer he can't refuse to produce an inception of an idea to his target rather than steal a target's deepest secrets in the vulnerable sleep state. In this dream world, the rules are allowed to be bent. This movie shares some semblance to the Matrix. The offer that the main character is offered, is to return home where we soon learn are plaguing his own subconscious and offers a formidable obstacle to completing the current task.
Review: The cast was loaded with a lot of big names headlined by Leonardo DiCaprio and had a strong foreign presence as well: Marion Cotillard, a French actress, Ken Watanabe, a Japanese actor, Tom Hardy and Michael Caine, British actors, and Cillian Murphy, an Irish actor. Ellen Page does a solid job too. The plot was complex and really makes the viewer think. It was difficult to follow at first, but when you start thinking about the rules, you can construct the reality that the director intended you to construct.

Iron Man 2
Summary: Iron man is a superhero who has to battle a Russian madman who has built a suit that rivals the Iron Man. Tony Starks also struggles with his self-identity and his identity as Iron Man.
Review: Scarlett Johansson gave a dissappointing performance as it was hyped up that she would have a bigger role. She also didn't look as great as it was reported she lost weight for the role although her role did seem minor. Gwyneth Paltrow was satisfactory, but was better in the first film. Don Cheadle played a solid role, and Terrance Howard was barely missed. Robert Downey gives a great performance and saves the cast from underachieving considering the names.
Further Question/Philosophy/Theme: Can world peace truly be monetized like Tony Starks claimed he did? Isn't Tony Starks more like Lex Luthor than anyone else in the Comics world as they both claim to use their military industrial complexes to build a better tomorrow and profit for their shareholders. Is there such a thing as good and evil defined? I'm sure the mad Russian had a good reason for wanting to destroy Tony Stark's legacy. Why do people always value a legacy so much.

The Town
Summary: The story revolves around a group of friends from Charlestown who are a sophisticated bank robbing team and their heists. The main character, Doug MacRay, is played by Ben Affleck and struggles with his identity and his attempts at changes in his life while being reminded who he is by his opposite, but best friend, James Coughlin, played by Jeremy Renner. At the center of the struggle for change is an assistant bank-manager who happens to be traumatized by the first bank robbery in the movie, but as events unfolded, falls in love with one of the bank robbers who took her hostage, Doug MacRay.
Review: The cast was an all-star one with a lot of big names: Ben Affleck, Chris Cooper, Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall, and Blake Lively. The performance of Jon Hamm was a bit disappointing however, but maybe the story was less about the MacRay vs. FBI agent as it was about MacRay leaving his past in the past. Blake Lively had a smaller role than the trailers indicated, but Rebecca Hall gave a great performance. The movie had plenty of playful moments while keeping the suspense in the air and I was captivated by the plot. The film really had an edge and the scenes were well shot and the dialogue was well written. The only negative is the fact that the movie was probably edited to fit a shorter time and a few scenes seemed to have been irrelevant or were trying too hard in the context of the movie. It was still an awesome film, and even in those "try-too-hard" moments, an enthralling film shone through.
Further Question/Philosophy/Theme: Can somebody really change his life without leaving the neighborhood he grew up in? What's it to be inside of love and have a woman change your life like it did for Doug MacRay or is that just a movie type idea.

I thought the movie would be a little cliche and the action scenes would make the film, but I was pleasantly surprised. Ben Affleck in this film with his Bostonian accent makes me forget how much better Matt Damon's career has been than his co-star in "Good Will Hunting."

The Joneses
Summary: The Joneses is about a family that is perfect and how their move to an upper scale neighborhood forces all the other members of the community to keep up with the Joneses. The Joneses isn't a real family as they're perfect, but a "cell" that's designed to help its advertisers sell more, more and more.
Review: I'm starting to think that actors who play a certain role on screen don't necessarily "act," but find a part of themselves to draw upon. I had a science teacher who once met David Duchovny said his humor was really dry. I think he has been the same character in all his works if that real life encounter held true. Hank in Californication, Mulder from X-Files and Steve Jones all have the same persona. Demi Moore did give a decent performance in this movie, but the acting wasn't as strong from the two kids: Amber Heard and Ben Hollingsworth although their roles were minimized. The plot was strong, but it tried to do too much with all its different subplots. It could have dwelved deeper into several storylines instead of trying to have a bunch of subplots that weren't explored more deeply. Maybe the subplots were just there to prove that the family wasn't perfect, but they felt very rushed and didn't connect to the central message of the human nature to better those around them. Maybe I'm asking too much as the subplots could only be deepened with a tv series that extends beyond screen time.
Further Question/Philosophy/Theme: The movie poses many interesting points with consumerism and how it is destroying America. Whether or not it was intentional, it brought up many problems in American society with the consumer being told to buy what they can't afford and drowning in debt from their choices. It asks what's really important in life and the consequences of losing sight of that with attempts to please other people.
Power Rating (Out of 5) and Comments: 3 I think this movie was a fun watch and it tried to lighten the mood despite the dark plot. The sinister companies behind this are trivialized and made to seem to be too evil rather than it is what it is. The human elements in the movie were lacking a bit despite the great setups of the plot to make this a more dramatic movie. This movie could have been made into a great drama, but I guess with Duchovny at the helm, an attempt to turn it into something lighter was sucessful, but it could have been a drama with many funny moments.
